The sixth edition of DiBa (Digital Barcelona
Film Festival) has been canceled by the
difficulty of balancing the budget of an event that
includes
screenings, workshops, contests and highly complex
professional sessions.
In its first five editions
DiBa has researched the points of contact between the
latest technology and audiovisual creativity. In 2006 we produced a
digital film in record time
('Lo Bueno de Llorar' by Matias Bize); in 2007 we presented the first Spanish digital
cinema projection in 4K; in 2008 we shot the first 3D Spanish music video (‘Me
tienes contenta’ by Pastora) and in 2009 we broadcast a live 3D opera from the
Liceu, Barcelona.
The festival has presented innovative audiovisual films
and digital movies from
renowned filmmakers as Arturo Ripstein, David
Lynch, Steven Soderbergh, Michael
Winterbottom, ... We have also produced short films with
directors like Juanma Bajo
Ulloa, Joaquim, Rafa Cortés, Mariano Barroso and Borja
Cobeaga. Also
organized documentary workshops and contests as DiBa
Express, which proposes
make a film of three
minutes in 72 hours (in the latest edition involved more than
150 teams).
The organization would like
to thank all the sponsors, partners, institutions and public support for
the festival over the years.
